Mr. Andrew Metzkga


Mr. Metzkga was activated into the US Army three weeks after the Kent State Shootings. He was a heavy equipment maintenance operator and stand by riot control. During the Vietnam War, he was stationed in Waegwen, Korea and Bupyeong. Korea. Watch Video

Col. Philip Goodwin


Colonel Goodwin entered the USAF one week out of high school. During Vietnam in 1966/1967, he was a fighter pilot, flying over 100 missions over North Vietnam, and 25 over Laos and Cambodia. A member of the 384 Tactical Fighter Wing, 34 Tactical Fighter Squadron, he piloted the F105 fighter bombers. He was stationed primarily in Korat, Thialand during the war. He is the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross and eleven air medals. Throughout his 29 years in the air force, he has accumulated 4,000 hours of fighter time, and 2,000 hours transport, and 1,000 in various other aircraft. Watch Video

Mr. Clarence Nail


Mr. Clarence Nail served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a heavy equipment operator. He helped to build base camps,clearing roads and jungle. He served in the 9th Division, 15th Engineer in southern Vietnam. Watch Video

Lt. Col. Claude Barrow


Lt. Col. Claude Barrow was commissioned into the U.S. Air Force in 1958 and retired in 1984. He served in the 6th Weather Squad (Mobil; 1930th & 1995 COMM; AF Courier Service, the Defense Intelligence Agency in D.C.; Joint Service Command Thailand. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Joint Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross. Mr. John Bollwerk, Jr.


Mr.John Bollwerk, Jr. was commissioned in the USAF in 1959 and served until 1984. During Vietnam, he was a pilot in the 23rd Tactical Air Support Sq; 46th Bomb Sq. Stationed at Narhom Phanom Royal Thai airbase, he was a forward air controller who patrolled the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos. In 1970, he was a B-52 aircraft commander. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with two Oak Leaf Clusters; air medal with two silver and four bronze oak leaf clusters, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm; Vietnam Campaign Medal. Mr. John Hamill


Mr. John Hamill enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from 1962 – 1967. During Vietnam, he helped with the protection of DaNang AFB and Hill 363. He was in the 1st Battalion, Charley Company, 3rd Marine Division. Watch Video

Mr. Carl “Frank” Christie


Carl “Frank” Christie enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1967. He served in Vietnam loading bombs and rockets on the F-4B and F-4J. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Cross of Gallantry with PEN, Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Medal. Watch Video

Col. Owen Ratcliff, Jr.


Colonel Owen Ratcliff, Jr. served in the U.S. Army from 1963 – 1988. During Vietnam, he flew Huey helicopters and was the flight leader for combat assaults by air. He was stationed at Bien Hoa, Hue Phu Bai, Duc Pho, Vietnam. He is the recipient of the Distinguished Flyer Cross, three Bronze Stars, Air Medal with V Device, and thirty-six air medals. He served in the 190th Assault Helicopter Company, 1st Aviation Brigade and logged over 1,048 hours of combat assaults by air. Watch Video

Wayne Rick


Wayne Rick served in the U.S. Army from 1969 – 1970. He served in the “Big Red One” Infantry during the Vietnam War as a Tunnel Rat. He is the recipient of two purple hearts.

Sgt. Sherrell Byrd, Jr.


Sgt. Sherrell Byrd, Jr. was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving from 1968-1970. Sgt. Byrd was a combat infantry soldier, stationed in Quang Tri Province and the DMZ during the Vietnam War. Among his many medals are the Bronze Star, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Wounded Medal, Vietnam Cross for Gallantry. He was in A Company, 1st Brigade, 61st Infantry (Mechanized), 5th Infantry Division. Watch Video
