Mr.John Bollwerk, Jr. was commissioned in the USAF in 1959 and served until 1984. During Vietnam, he was a pilot in the 23rd Tactical Air Support Sq; 46th Bomb Sq. Stationed at Narhom Phanom Royal Thai airbase, he was a forward air controller who patrolled the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos. In 1970, he was a B-52 aircraft commander. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with two Oak Leaf Clusters; air medal with two silver and four bronze oak leaf clusters, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm; Vietnam Campaign Medal.
